General Information

This year's Green Card Lottery DV-2014 is now closed. It closed at noon on Saturday, November 3, 2012.

All information on this website is about the last Green Card Lottery. New information about next year's Green Card Lottery DV-2015 will be added soon.

The US Diversity Visa Program for this year 2012, is called American Green Card Lottery DV-2014. Winners in the Green Card Lottery may receive an Immigrant Visa, and American Green Card, and the right to live and work in the United States of America.

This year's Green Card Lottery DV-2014 (for the year 2012) will begin on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 12 noon (EDT) (GMT-4) and will end on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 12 noon (EDT) (GMT-4).

Each year the US Government, through its American Green Card Lottery Diversity Visa Program, makes available 55,000* immigrant visas to persons meeting the eligibility requirements.

Each eligible applicant must submit an entry form and digital photos.

WARNING: Never pay anyone to submit your official Green Card Lottery entry for you. It is easy to submit your own official entry for free. The US Government does NOT call Green Card Lottery winners, does NOT send email messages to Green Card Lottery winners, and does NOT mail letters to Green Card Lottery winners.

Starting October 2, 2012, you can go to the official Government Green Card Lottery entry site at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/photo.aspx and check the digital size of your photos. If they do not meet the requirements, you can email them to us at info@americangreencard.com . We will do one free quick check to see if they can be corrected. If we can make the needed corrections, we will let you know. If you wish for us to make those corrections, there is a $60 fee for each photo corrected.

There is no fee to enter the Green Card Lottery. The only place where you can submit your official entry form is at www.dvlottery.state.gov . Therefore, please go there to submit your official entry and digital photo at no charge. Instructions on how to submit your digital photo are on that same page.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THOSE WHO ENTERED LAST YEAR'S AMERICAN GREEN CARD LOTTERY DV-2013:

You should go to http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ after July 15, 2012 to see if you were a winner in Green Card Lottery DV-2013. You must use the confirmation number you were automatically given when you submitted your official entry at the Government's official entry site last year. Only you were given your confirmation number. No one else knows that number.

The US Government will accept only online entries and digital photos.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SELECTION OF WINNERS FOR LAST YEAR'S (2011) GREEN CARD LOTTERY DV-2013

The computer will randomly select individuals from among all qualified entries.

Entrants who submitted online DV-2013 entries through the US Government's official website can check the status of their entries by returning to the Government's website at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ after July 15, 2012.

Entry Status Check is the ONLY means of informing you of your selection for DV-2013. All entrants, including those NOT selected, may check the status of their entries only through the Entry Status Check on the US Government's website www.dvlottery.state.gov/ and find out if their entry was or was not selected. Entrants will need to use the information from their DV-2013 confirmation page saved at the time of entry. Only you were given your confirmation number. No one else knows that number. We can NOT give you that number. The DV-2013 registration period was from October 3, 2011, until November 5, 2011.

Selectees will be directed to a confirmation page that will provide further instructions, including information on fees connected with immigration to the United States. Entry Status Check will be the ONLY means by which selectees will be notified of their selection for DV-2013. The Kentucky Consular Center will NOT be mailing out notification letters. Those selected in the random drawing are NOT notified of their selection by e-mail. Those individuals NOT selected will be notified of their non-selection only through the web-based Entry Status Check at www.dvlottery.state.gov. The US Government, U.S. embassies and consulates will NOT provide a list of selectees.

AMERICAN GREEN CARD LOTTERY ACCESS CENTER ACCEPTS YOUR ENTRY DATA EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. However, keep in mind that our entry data form is NOT your official entry into the Lottery, and we are NOT affiliated with the U.S. Government. The entry data form on our web site is only there so that you can see what questions to be prepared to answer when you submit your official entry after October 2, 2012 on the Government's official site at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/. We are a service company that has been assisting clients with digital photos for use in the Green Card Lottery since 1996. It will be our pleasure to assist you with your digital photo as well.

Over 95% of all photos we receive need corrections to meet the U.S. Government's requirements. Photos that are not taken correctly will immediately disqualify the entry. Also, if the digital resolutions are not exactly correct, the U.S. Government's official entry web site will not accept your photos.

OUR DIGITAL PHOTO REVIEW AND DIGITAL PHOTO SIZE CORRECTION SERVICES
  1. Go to http://www.americangreencard.com/howenter.htm to confirm you meet the education or work requirements to enter the Green Card Lottery. A list of elgible countries is here.
  2. Take your required digital photos or scan existing photos. Complete photo instructions are at http://www.americangreencard.com/howenter.htm .
  3. Check to see if your photos will be accepted by the U.S. Government on their "Photo Validator" page at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/photo.aspx (web page available October 2, 2012).
  4. If the U.S. Government approves your digital photos at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/photo.aspx (web page available October 2, 2012), then go ahead and submit your entry and photos at no charge at the U.S. Government's official entry site.
  5. If the U.S. Government rejects your digital photos, you may email them to us at info@americangreencard.com , along with confirmation of how you are sending the $60 service fee for EACH digital photo you email to us for size correction.Be sure you email the photos as "attachments" to your message. Click here for a complete list of service fee options.
  6. After receiving our service fee, we review the digital photos you email to us, and we let you know what corrections are needed.
  7. We then email your corrected digital photos back to you. It is your responsibility to make sure that your email service provider allows you to receive digital photos as attachments to messages in your inbox. We can only return corrected digital photos as attachments to a reply to your original message.
  8. You then go to the U.S. Government's official entry site at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ (web page available October 2, 2012) and submit your entry and corrected digital photos. After you submit your official entry, the U.S. Government immediately emails confirmation of receipt of your entry directly to you. You can then use their information to track your entry.

Applicants for the U.S. Diversity Program Immigration Visas are initially chosen through a random computer-generated lottery drawing. Immigrant visas are apportioned among six geographic regions, with a greater number of visas going to regions with lower rates of immigration--and no visas going to countries sending more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the past five years. No one country can receive more than 3,500 diversity program visas in any one year.

The following countries are NOT eligible to enter Green Card Lottery DV-2014: BANGLADESH, BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA mainland-born (Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM and UK dependent territories (except Northern Ireland which is eligible), and VIETNAM.

If the winner files a successful application, he or she can enter the U.S. and exchange the immigrant visa for a Green Card, issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). If the winner is already in the U.S., he or she can get a Green card from INS without leaving the country.

*The Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NCARA) passed by Congress in November 1997 stipulates that beginning with DV-99, and for as long as necessary, 5,000 of the 55,000 annually-allocated diversity visas will be made available for use under the NCARA program.
